Andrew P. Chick MPhil
Independent Ecologist & Protected Species Consultant

Andrew Chick is an experienced field ecologist. He has a Master's degree and a University research background.

Andrew has worked on several European Funded Research Project in association with both De Montfort University and Lincoln University. His main field of research is within the renewable energy sector. Andrew has been involved in both the location, construction and monitoring of several wind turbine projects. His research work has been published in numerous academic publications and presented at a number of conferences.

For the past 20 years he has been involved in numerous environmental and conservation activities;

Survey Work. Andrew is involved in numerous wildlife survey projects, including work for the British Trust for Ornithology, RSPB, local Wildlife Trusts and Naturalist Unions. He has been involved in the production of 3 County Bird Atlas', being involved in both the survey work and the final publication.
RSPB Volunteer & Farmer Alliance Project. For the past 5 years Andrew has be involved with the RSPB Farmer Alliance project, which involves working closely with farmers to produce detailed surveys of local farmland. The scheme was developed to help reverse the decline of farmland bird populations by working together with conservation volunteers and farmers.
Wildlife Watch. For the past 4 years Andrew has been running the West Kesteven Wildlife Watch Group. His extensive knowledge of Natural History helps him to create a varied calendar for the group activities.
Natural History Interests. Andrew is passionately interested in ALL aspects of British Natural History. He is an active member of the Bat Conservation Trust and the Lincolnshire Bat Group, regularly being involved in Bat Hibernation Counts and Surveys.
Lincolnshire Bird Club. Andrew is an honorary life member of the Lincolnshire Bird Club and serves on the committee. He is responsible for their website, which includes a PHP forum ( http://www.lincsbirdclub.co.uk/forum ) and online photo album (http://www.lincsbirds.co.uk/album ).
Television Work. Between 1995 and 2000 he was a co-presenter for a day-time BBC2 television program called ‘A Week in the Country'. Each week Andrew would present a 5 minute session on a wide range of countryside issues. The series lasted for five years, during which time he developed an understanding of the media and the effectiveness of television as a tool to promoting conservation.
