Rod Strawson BSc (Hons)

Rod originally studied and worked in the agricultural and forestry sectors prior to obtaining an environmental degree through the University of Hull as a mature student. He then went on to work for five years at a leading ecological consultancy. In 2009 Rod decided to become an independent protected species ecologist and has worked for Scarborough Nixon Associates Ltd on many occasions since.

He has worked on many projects throughout England, wide ranging in both size, complexity and timescale. He has been involved with the survey and mitigation for bats, great crested newts, badgers, otters, water voles, reptiles, birds and dormice. Work has included ecological baseline assessments, extended phase 1 surveys and supervision of a wide range and scale of invasive survey, site clearance and construction works. He holds both Natural England great crested newt and bat survey licenses and has in addition held a great crested newt conservation licence for a large water body de-silting project.
