Reptiles

Inspired Ecology Ltd carry out survey work for common reptile species (common lizard, slow-worm, adder and grass snake).

These common reptile species are protected from intentional killing, injury and trade under The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 (as amended).

As with many protected species surveys, there are seasonal constraints and presence/absence surveys must be timed to occur in the active season (April to September). Forward planning can prevent unnecessary delays and Inspired Ecology will assess the potential for common reptile species to occur on site as part of a standard ecology appraisal.

This service includes...

  • Presence/ absence surveys and population class size assessments
  • Translocation and exclusion schemes (including fencing)
  • Habitat enhancement/creation and mitigation schemes
  • Monitoring and habitat maintenance work
